Volunteering

The library is a non-profit organisation and relies on volunteers to operate. Our volunteers facilitate the loaning and returning of toys each library opening session, coordinate our sessions, assist with annual stocktaking and serve on the Committee of management. Most of our volunteers come from our membership but in the last year we have opened up opportunities to students and community members to contribute to the library while developing their skills and experiences.

Most members choose a volunteering membership type and receive discounted membership in return. Some volunteer training is required but it is brief and little more than what a member would do to manage their own borrowings at home via our online catalog portal. Here is a brief list of our volunteering opportunities:

Our Community Volunteering and Student Placements are new programs and so are in the process of continued development. While becoming a member can be done online, Community Volunteers and Student Placements require Committee approval.
